Okudu AI Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Okudu AI collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Okudu AI website and mobile apps.

Personal Information

The personal information you provide (name, email address) and any 3P user data (such as your Google profile picture) are stored in our systems for account management purposes and to provide you with personalized services.

Stories

Story inputs are stored for analysis and improvement purposes. Story content marked as private may be analysed by site admins for quality and improvement purposes.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we may collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to Okudu may download and extract any location data from images. We use images to help you customize the stories and do not use them for any other purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on Okudu your user id will be stored. You can choose to delete your comment at any time.

If you visit our website, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Connected Accounts

If you choose to link a third-party account to Okudu (for example, to claim a referral or community credit), we receive limited information from that service via its OAuth flow and store only what is needed to verify your eligibility:

  • Discord — your Discord user ID and username, used to confirm you have joined our Discord server before granting a free credit.
  • TikTok — your TikTok open_id, display name, and (for users opting into the post-credit reward) read-only access to your video list. We use the video list solely to verify that you have posted a video tagging Okudu before granting a free credit. We do not browse, analyse, or store your videos beyond the verification check. We also store your TikTok access and refresh tokens server-side for the duration of the linkage, used solely to call the TikTok Display API on your behalf at claim time, and they are deleted when you delete your Okudu account.

You may revoke access to a connected account at any time from the third-party service's own privacy settings; doing so does not retroactively reverse credits already granted but does prevent further use of that link.

How We Use Your Data

We may use your personal information, including 3Ps like Google user data, to:

  • Provide you with the services you requested, such as personalized story recommendations and notifications.
  • Improve our services through analysis and user feedback.
  • Diagnose issues and improve usability by recording playback of your in-app screen sessions through our analytics provider (Mixpanel). Text, images, and form inputs are automatically masked before capture, so your personal content is not recorded.

Data Protection Mechanisms

We use SSL/TLS encryption on this website for a secure connection. We also do not sell your data to third parties. However, we may share your data with service providers who assist us with hosting, maintenance, and support entities for the purpose of providing our services.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username or delete account from the user interface given the free trials per account). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on Okudu,

  1. You can send an email to info@okudu.ai to request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
  2. You can erase any personal data we hold about you directly in the Okudu app, in the Profile Settings. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security/fraud prevention purposes.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
